One of the most anticipated collaboration of 2018 has got to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Amrezy Highlight, and I for one, can remember counting down the days until it was released online and in-stores. With its beautiful golden waves and chic packaging, this stunner took over the highlighting world and made every makeup-lover go crazy for its gorgeous and true golden glow!
Cleansing oils is one product that I have never added to my skincare routine because I've had such a hard time finding the right one for my skin. I've been through a multitude of cleansing oils the past couple of years, both drugstore and high-end, and I've never found one that I've enjoyed until I tried the shu uemura Anti/Oxi Skin Refining Cleansing Oil. Now that I know there's actually a cleansing oil on the market that works for me, I don't think I'll ever be without this!
The Urban Decay Backtalk Eye & Face Palette is probably the most uniquely-designed palette in my entire collection. I love how it has both eyeshadows and blushes all in one and is so compact and sturdy - definitely a plus for traveling!
Urban Decay is definitely a brand that's been stepping up their game - their products seem to be getting better and better with each release! However, I have definitely seen some mixed reviews on this particular palette, so I was very curious to give this palette a try for myself. If you're interested in my thoughts and opinions on the Backtalk palette, be sure to continue reading!
Colourpop Cosmetics really has taken the makeup world by storm - their products are absolutely incredible for their prices, and they just keep coming out with new products that awe every makeup lover! I remember how amazed I was during my first encounter with CP products two years ago, and now I feel like their products have gotten even better while still remaining affordable for all.
During the months of March and April, Colourpop had a number of great sales that really caught my attention. I ended up making two separate orders (with no customs fees for both purchases, thank goodness)! Since I've already tried out a few products I've gotten, this post will also contain mini reviews for the products I've already dug into.
As a fellow Canadian, I love discovering new Canadian makeup brands that sell high quality products. Enter Pink Carrot Beauty, a cruelty-free Canadian brand founded in 2017. They create lip products that are also hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic, fragrance free, paraben free, and allergy tested. That's an incredible list of benefits, am I right? What's even more impressive is the noticeably high quality of their lip products and the wide range of shades they've created for everyone out there!
Every makeup lover's dream is to be able to buy professional quality makeup at extremely affordable prices. This is also the exact thought behind the makeup products made by Crown Brush. They believe that keeping their packaging simple can help maintain the low costs of high quality makeup. I believe this is an amazing idea behind a cosmetics company - yes, good packaging is needed, but what's more important is the quality of the makeup and how affordable it is to the public.
Crown Brushes sells a wide variety of beauty products from eyeshadow palettes and concealers to setting sprays and makeup brushes. These goodies are now available on the Showcase website, which makes your girl very happy because I'm always looking for high quality, but affordable makeup that is easily shipped to Canada!
It's that time of the year again...! Spring time? Well yes, but more importantly it's time for the Sephora Spring Sale! This sale happens twice a year, once in during spring, and once during winter. During the sale in April, those with a VIB rouge and VIB status get 15% off their entire purchase, while those with a BI get 10% off.
If you're looking to try new products or to stock up on favourites, this is the time to do so! I always get somewhat overwhelmed during these sales because I just want to add everything to my basket! This is why this handy-dandy post is here: to help you decide what to purchase based on products that I love and recommend.
Do you enjoy the feeling of clean skin after your morning, night, and anything in-between face wash? Imagine being able to feel that freshness immediately after a long and intense workout. If you're jumping up and down on the edge of your seat after hearing that, the Kaplan MD Skin Fit Superset is the perfect trio for you!
Now that spring is upon us, I of course have to pull out my peachy-coral blushes out of my collection. During my Christmas vacation to Dallas, I came across a Benefit Cosmetics vending machine in the airport. Being me, I had to pick something up from the machine for the experience, so I decided to grab the GALifornia blush to add to my Benefit boxed powders collection!
Who loves warm-toned eyeshadows in a small beautiful palette? I DO!
When the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat palette first came out, I remember I was sitting in class admiring how perfect this palette would be to take with me on-the-go. I always gravitate towards warm-toned shadows when I travel because I know they'll work for me, no matter what look I'm going for. This mini baby has definitely not let me down, so be sure to keep reading to find out why you need this palette in your life as well!
The Too Faced Peaches and Cream collection was one that I was most excited for once I heard the news on it. I love the Sweet Peach collection that came out last year (if you haven't smelled the eyeshadow palette, I'd highly recommend going to your local Sephora for the yummy peach scent), so I knew I would adore this collection as well. I immediately gravitated towards the Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation - a foundation that's matte and comfortable? Definitely count me in!
Have you ever looked right at the products of a cosmetics brand and thought, "I know these would work great on me"? That was my initial impression of Medusa Cosmetics after seeing their products online. Medusa Cosmetics creates high-quality skincare and makeup items with minimalistic, yet elegant packaging, allowing their users to really focus their attention on the products themselves. These are definitely a must-have in anyone's collection and on anyone's vanity!
At the beginning of the year, Kat Von D re-released her Studded Kiss lipstick line with a new and improved formula and an expanded shade range. When I received this lippie, complimentary from Influenster, I was very curious at how different the new formula is compared to the old one. So without further ado, let's find out!
If you're a Canadian beauty junkie, then I'm sure you're aware of the difficulties of finding brands like Morphe and Makeup Revolution that ship to Canadian locations without the high shipping, customs, and handling fees. Lucky for us, ORABEL makes it easy for Canadians to purchase these hard-to-find brands online for a very reasonable price. Myriam, the co-founder of ORABEL, is such an incredible and inspirational woman for creating and expanding ORABEL, and I can't wait to continue to follow her journey as she grows and expands ORABEL!
Probably one of the most anticipated launches in the beauty industry (definitely one that I was most excited for) is the Fenty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks* (CAD $23). I believe this lipstick line launched on December 26, but funny enough, I picked up my first one almost a month later. Why did I decide to purchase my first Fenty lippie that much later when I was so excited about their release? Keep reading to find out!
If you've been a long-time follower of mine, you'd know how OBSESSED I am with highlight. I will literally wear highlight and no other makeup some times cause I love to look glowy and luminous. That's why I was super excited to see the Lancome Glow For It* palette in 02 Rose Twinkle (CAD $51) on sale at Sephora on New Year's (this palette is no longer available at Sephora, but is still in-stock on the Lancome website). I had previously swatched this palette in-stores and loved the texture and shades, but I didn't pick it up cause it was a bit pricey. So imagine how overjoyed I was to see that this palette was on sale on the first day of 2018!
I'm so excited to be talking about this palette, so let's get started!
Coming from a biochemistry background, I'm all for discovering makeup products that are created with safer and more natural ingredients. I've never really stumbled upon a brand that promoted their products as such until I discovered Beautycounter. Beautycounter creates effective, yet safe makeup and skincare products for both women and children. On their website, you'll find an abundance of information on their mission as well as a glossary containing every single ingredient they use in their products.
In this post, I'll be reviewing three of their products: the Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation, the Touchup Concealer Pen, and the Winter Jewels Palette.
Hello all to my very first monthly favourites blogpost of this year! I'm going to make it a goal to publish a favourites post every month cause there's always so much great makeup I want to share with you all. I've re-fallen in love with some products in my collection, but I've also discovered a few new ones that I've completed fallen in love with.
We have FINALLY reached the last post of my 2017 beauty favourites! Of course, I saved the best for last cause I am obsessed with lip products. If you haven't seen my 2017 favourites for face products and eye products, you can click here and here.
Hello my lovely people, and welcome to part two of my Best of Beauty 2017! I know these posts are coming a bit late, but I've been working hard on planning out more content for you all as well as revamping my blog. Do you like the new banner? Let me know down in the comments!
This post will be dedicated to all the amazing eye products I was in love with last year. Despite having tried quite a bit of amazing eye products, I really tried to narrow down my list to my absolute favourites because eye makeup can really add up and be quite expensive (trust me, I know). If you haven't checked out my Best of Beauty 2017: Face Products post, you can click here to read all about some very great face makeup that I adored last year. Let's get this post rolling!
I seriously cannot believe 2017 is over - where does the time go? One year ago, I started my beauty Instagram to share my passion for makeup with everyone. To this day, I still cannot believe the growth that continues to occur on my account. I've met some really awesome people and have seen so many beautiful and inspiring pictures created by super hardworking and amazing people! My New Year's resolution is to be more present on my blog and to reply to my Instagram comments in a more timely manner (I'm not the best at replying to everyone's comments, but I do see and appreciate them very much!)
I've split my Best of 2017 into three posts because I just have so many products that I loved in the year of 2017. I'll be talking about these products in the order I apply them to my face. So without further ado, let's get started on all the face products I've been loving for the past year!
Toolbox Cosmetics is a Canadian company focused on creating functional and efficient products. As a Canadian makeup lover, I am constantly looking for Canadian cosmetics brands to try, so I was ecstatic to test out some of their lip products.
Since last year, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has been raving about the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. This was literally in every Youtuber's favourites videos, making me desperately want to test it out to see if all the hype is justified.
Unfortunately, the Shape Tape is only sold on the Tarte website and was always excluded from any promotional discounts Tarte had, so I was never able to bring myself to purchase it. However, Tarte FINALLY had a discount on the Shape Tape during their birthday, and of course I woke up at 8 am just to pick two up.
Without further ado, let's get this review rolling!
Calling all unicorn lovers, this one's for you!
Like every other person who was obsessed with the unicorn trend back in the summer, I wanted to douse myself with whimsical colours and shimmers. I picked up the Tarte Make Believe In Yourself: Eye & Cheek Palette (CAD $52, now $39) right when it was released because of the beautiful shimmers. However, this palette was quickly put on sale, which really surprised me.
Keep on reading for a full review on this palette!
When the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks (CAD $26, now $15) went on sale, I probably looked like the kid who got her dream Christmas gift. I was sitting on my couch, screaming at my housemates to get on Sephora since they're equally obsessed with makeup. Unfortunately, I was quickly reminded that I was on a no-buy, but THANKFULLY, my sister ended up picking one up for me in-stores to add to my collection. Keep reading for my review on these studs (haha get it?)
